The successful applicant will need to be dynamic, will enjoy working outdoors, possess a keen eye for detail and finesse, have excellent supervisory skills, with the ability to communicate and liaise with our Clients on site and represent our Company in the best possible way, promoting the Groundforce brand.

You will work alone and also with one of our mobile teams. You will be working ‘hands-on’ and will be a team player with a willingness and ability to work alone. You will have a good knowledge and practical skills in both Hard and Soft Landscaping. With the ability to organise the plant, tools and materials required for each specific project.

You will be involved in the operation of 360° tracked excavators and dumpers and associated landscape equipment. You will be a good all rounder with the ability to perform and undertake a variety of Hard Landscaping projects such as stone work, stone construction, walling, general paving, patios, block paving and footpaths, general garden timber work including decking and timber and steel fencing.

You will also be able to perform and undertake a variety of Soft Landscaping projects such as turfing, shrub, tree and hedge planting and will possess general plant knowledge. You will also be required to undertake other various tasks such as tree felling and general tree works.

Ensuring all employees under your supervision are proceeding in carrying out work in a safe and proper manner, ensuring the correct PPE issued is being worn in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and current legislation.

Ensuring that the Company’s vehicles, plant and machinery under your control are kept clean and routine daily maintenance checks and servicing are undertaken in line with the manufacturer’s recommendations. The cleanliness and organisation of the operational depot will also fall under your control and supervision.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

  • Previous Hard and Soft Landscaping experience essential
  • Hold a full UK driving licence & trailer licence
  • A clear and clean Enhanced DBS will be required
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Able to work off plans/landscape schemes and organise jobs
  • Experience in carrying out stone work, stone construction, walling, general paving, patios, block paving and footpaths
  • Experience in general garden timber work including decking
  • Experience in fencing
  • Experience in turfing, shrub, tree and hedge planting with general plant knowledge
  • Experience in the use of 360° tracked excavators, relevant licence, preferable, but not essential
  • Experience in the use of dumpers and other landscape equipment
  • NPTC in chainsaw operations CS30 & CS31, preferable, but not essential

Job Type / Category

You will work within and lead one of our mobile teams who are at the forefront of delivering a high-quality grounds maintenance service to our clients. You will be working ‘hands-on’ and lead one of our mobile teams to provide our clients with an exceptional grounds maintenance service.

To effectively supervise your team on a daily basis, ensuring that the requirements of our clients and the contract specification are adhered to.

You will be involved in the operation of commercial ride on and pedestrian grass cutting machinery and associated grounds maintenance equipment, maintaining shrub beds and planted areas, weed control operations, line marking of football pitches and athletics tracks, hedge cutting operations, autumn leaf clearance and any other duties as deemed necessary.

Ensuring all employees under your supervision are proceeding in carrying out work in a safe and proper manner, ensuring the correct PPE issued is being worn in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and current legislation.

  • Hold a full UK driving licence & trailer licence
  • A clear and clean Enhanced DBS will be required
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Spraying Certificates – NPTC PA1 & PA6, preferable, but not essential
  • NPTC in chainsaw operations CS30 & CS3,1 preferable, but not essential
  • Possess the ability to lead and inspire a mobile team of grounds maintenance operatives
